Gene and Miranda Philbin, husband-wife team, started Peculiar Culinary Co back in 2012 by hosting pop up dinners around the Northeastern Pennsylvania area.  They eventually began catering small parties and corporate events.  When they added wedding catering, they also decided to add a mobile kitchen.

By the fall of 2015, they opened Peculiar Culinary food truck and were attending festivals, breweries, bars, catering events and lunches at Scranton’s Courthouse Square.

Peculiar Slurp Shop opened in May of 2018 and offers table service with an open kitchen concept. The décor is an eclectic mix of brick, bright colors, local art, Edison lighting, rustic wood and stainless steel.  They offer a rotating selection of craft beer, fruit infused sake, seasonal cocktails and wine.  They also feature Electric City Roasters cold brew coffee and a variety of hot and cold brewed teas as well as other soft drinks imported from Japan.

Visit Peculiar Slurp Shop for lunch or dinner and enjoy small shareable plates, steamed bao buns, hot and cold noodle bowls, dessert options and daily features.
